Foods That Are Diet Killers

It's time to lose weight and you have determined that you will do it right this time. You know you have to lower your calories by eating less, or burn more calories by exercising. The greatest determining factor in losing weight is the food you eat. Certain types of food are packed with sugar and fat, while they have absolutely no nutritional value. These empty calories will do nothing but add pounds to your body. Avoid the following foods in order to reach your weight loss goal.

Avoid white bread. I know it is almost impossible to imagine giving up your toast and jam or burger for lunch, but it is going to be a necessity if you plan to lose weight. White bread contains none of the nutritional value of whole grain breads. Heavy processing strips white flour of its nutritional value and creates, instead, a glob of bread that is tantamount to eating table sugar. The glycemic index of white bread is very high, close to that of glucose itself.

Since we are on the topic of table sugar, keep that off your table and out of your mouth, too. This means not only the table sugar you add to your coffee, but the candy, sodas, and other sweets you nibble throughout the day, as well. Table sugar is made of a blend of pure fructose and glucose. It offers no nutritional value to your diet, only empty calories. Sugar will increase your blood glucose level and force your body to release large amounts of insulin. In the long run this can lead to diabetes. Anytime it can leave you feeling fatigued and irritable.

Fried food should be avoided. Fried food is not good for you because it is soaked in fat during the frying process. This fat is saturated and trans fat, which are high in calories and bad for your health. Any good fats, also known as essential fatty acids, are destroyed during the heating process of frying. Fried food means disaster for your diet.

Love those donuts and breakfast pastries? Dump them if you want to lose weight. Look at what you are eating: white flour, deep fried, and filled with sugary fillings and sweet toppings. That's disastrous for your diet. Treats like these are filled with calories, saturated fats, trans fats, and sugar. Food like this is the antithesis of what you should be eating to lose weight.

You can enjoy foods like these occasionally. Consider them a treat, but even then, watch your portion control. If you want to optimize your weight loss results as quickly as possible, stay away from these foods altogether.
