Foods That Are Diet Killers

You decided that you need to lose weight. You know that you must cut back on your calories by exercising and / or lowering the amount of food you eat. Did you know that it is your diet that will likely determine if your weight loss is successful? The key to successful weight loss is to avoid certain foods that are nothing but fat and sugar, a whopping contribution of calories, but no nutrition to your daily intake. The following foods should be avoided if your goal is to shed some pounds.

White bread is one of the worst culprits when you are trying to lose weight. Many people can't imagine starting their day without toast or having a hamburger on a white bun at lunch. Unlike whole grain bread, white bread has been processed until it is stripped of its nutritional value. Because of the heavy processing of white bread it becomes like eating table sugar. White bread has a very high glycemic index, close to glucose.

Table sugar is another diet buster. This includes not only table sugar you dump in your morning coffee, but all of the sugar in the candy, soda, chocolate and other sweets you munch throughout the day. Table sugar is a fifty-fifty mix of fructose and glucose. It has no nutritional value, but tons of calories. Table sugar will cause blood glucose levels to spike and cause the body to release large amounts of insulin. Table

Fried foods are also counterproductive when you are trying to lose weight. Fried foods are filled with fat absorbed from the oil in which they are fried. This fat is mostly saturated and tans fat, which are considered "bad" fats. They are high in calories and contribute to high cholesterol and clogged arteries. When food is fried essential fatty acids, or "good" fats, are destroyed by the high heat in the frying process.

Love those donuts and breakfast pastries? Dump them if you want to lose weight. Look at what you are eating: white flour, deep fried, and filled with sugary fillings and sweet toppings. That's disastrous for your diet. Treats like these are filled with calories, saturated fats, trans fats, and sugar. Food like this is the antithesis of what you should be eating to lose weight.

You can indulge in your favorite treats from time to time; just remember that by and large these must be eliminated from your daily diet. When you do indulge, don't over-indulge. Eat a small portion then stop. If you want optimal diet results, keep these foods as far away from your mouth as possible!
