High Blood Pressure
The strange thing about high blood pressure is the widespread physical damage it can cause before a single symptom appears. A person can be feeling just fine, yet that hypertension (another word for high blood pressure) is increasing risk of serious afflictions, including heart attack and stroke.
Although sometimes no real cause is found for high blood pressure, basically the more blood pumped by the heart and the narrower the arteries, the higher the blood pressure. It's determined by the quantity of blood the heart pumps and the opposition to the blood flow.
The simple test for high blood pressure is done at every doctor's office every time you see a doctor. And high blood pressure can be controlled once it is detected.
The conventional approach to high blood pressure has been to put the patient on certain anti-hypertensive drugs. Hypertension is another name for high blood pressure. Commonly beta-blockers, diuretics and calcium channel blockers are the types of drugs used. Often high blood pressure gets controlled but unwanted side effects occur. For the side effects more drugs are given and more side effects occur. So the cycle goes on. Eventually patients end up on several anti-hypertensive drugs at least.
There are natural ways to control hypertension and nutritional supplements are a main method of treatment. A leading cardiologist has recommended various supplements -actually a triad of three supplements - a combination of coenzyme Q-10, L carnitine and D-ribose have been found to bring the blood pressure to normal. Other studies have found herbal supplements that help, too
Most people can benefit from a change in diet, or at least moderation. One need not go to extremes, but a healthy diet also assists with weight management, and having a normal weight will help bring about normal blood pressure.
Exercise is another important aspect of a natural program to lower blood pressure. A walk around the block will lower blood pressure, and other forms of exercise assist as well.
There's no need to resort to drugs and their side effects for a normal blood pressure. You can work with a nutritionist and doctor and use a combination of diet, supplements and exercise and get a better result.
