Natural Weight Loss – The Truth

Many companies and individuals want you to believe that natural weight loss is difficult to achieve but it's just a case of not eating as much, and having enough regular exercise. Obviously this is not as easy as it seems because the number of overweight American citizens is increasing with over a third of the population affected. There are many reasons why you would want to lose weight once you have put it on, but what reason is strong enough to actually encourage you to do it, good health or looks?

What most people do not realize is keeping at the right weight is much, much easier than losing it. This is something that all of us know deep down, that if we do not watch what we eat and how much we exercise, then we are doomed to an overweight future.

It has been shown that even when overweight people enjoy eating low calorie foods, the majority become bored and end up putting the weight back on because they slip back into previous ways. You have the power to take control of your body by eating properly, and live a healthy life through natural weight loss dieting and exercise.

There is a large number of health conditions associated with weight gain and the greater the increase in body weight the more that problems occur. The annoying part is that natural weight maintenance is not difficult to understand but overweight people choose to ignore this.

Maintaining a natural weight loss regime means sticking to low fat meals that are high in fiber and contain complex carbohydrates with a moderate amount of protein. If you were looking at a meal then this would be a baked potato (carbohydrate), the vegetables would be the fiber and a little meat, is the protein.

The problem is calories from dietary fat can be high and have a tendency to be retained by the body which is something that doesn't happen when excess calories are consumed with other foods. Food manufacturers have been quick to react and have provided a huge range of low or no fat foods but despite this the American people are getting larger, the simple reason for this may surprise you!

One of the greatest delusions of the 1990s was that no fat meant non-fattening but the truth is you are often getting just as many calories from these foods; the calories are just not coming from fat. The term fat-free can be a trap if you start to believe that you can eat any amount of fat-free food when it is far better to respond to hunger with healthy snacks.

Some health care specialists believe that a good method is to eat smaller meals and healthy, nutritious snacks every 3 or 4 hours. It's not always easy to lose weight, but if you take the time and focus on natural weight loss through sensible, controlled eating and exercise you will achieve lasting results.
